Critical Needs

1999 Collective is named after the Foster Care Independence Act of 1999, which created supports for youth aging out of foster care. We hope to increase access to these supports and others, and build collectively upon the foundation established by this legislation.

We gave over 69 critical-needs items to Utah’s foster care alumni, totaling $8,670 in value

Through a partnership with One Simple Wish, 1999 collective distributes critical-needs items to youth across the state of Utah. Items include everything from work boots for a new job at the airport, a bed for a first apartment, or payment for a car insurance bill.

These items often alleviate financial strain during moments of crisis or transition, such as an unexpected medical bill, rent hike or layoff.

Thank you!
