Transition to Adult Living (TAL) Funds
Basic Information
Responsible Agency: DCFS Transition to Adult Living Program
Amount: up to $2,000 per year
Deadline to Apply: Rolling
Can Spend On: Tuition, housing, transportation, basic living expenses. These funds are best thought of as emergency funds.
How $ is Awarded: TAL Coordinator pays for expenses directly. Cash is not distributed to youth.
For Whom:
Youth aged 14-21 in the custody of DCFS or Tribal social services
Young adults aged 18-23 who:
Aged out of foster care
Were in foster care after their 16th birthday and were adopted or placed in guardianship
Not eligible: reunified youth, youth with Catholic Community Services, youth formerly in foster care whose cases closed before 16th birthday
